We weren't really thinking about it, we just booked our tickets for New Orleans to see Weyes Blood. It literally did not dawn on my friend, Saria, and I that our trip would be in August. August in New Orleans. What were we thinking?! Well, we weren't thinking. Saria had never been to New Orleans before, it had been years since I had gone to visit, and it is one of my favorite US cities for inspiration. The energy there is very special and I was excited to share one of my favorite cities with one of my favorite people.

You can't tell here, but my dress is basically sticking to me because I'm sweating profusely.

We were there only a few days, as soon as we landed, we felt like the gates of Hades must be located in New Orleans. Oh well, we're here. Let's make the most of it. We stayed at this interesting hotel within walking distance to the French Quarter where we experienced some creepy as hell ghostly encounters. Never going to New Orleans in the summer again. Can't say I'll never stay in a haunted hotel again, since I feel pretty much all of New Orleans is haunted.

We browsed antique shops in the French Quarter, went to the Pharmacy Museum, shopped on Magazine Street, took a boat ride down the Mississipi River (after getting beignets at Cafe du Monde of course), walked by Madame Laveau's house, rode the railcars, and Saria got to try bananas foster for the first time at the restaurant that originated the dessert. And of course, we got to see Weyes Blood where we both wept a bit.

There was so much more we would have liked to do, but the heat was almost unbearable, and at the time, Saria was also 3 months pregnant, so we took it really easy and attempted not to melt into sweaty puddles by noon, which we were unsuccessful at. At the time of our visit the temps were always above 100 and about 90% humidity. Never again in August!

A couple of photos from the Pharmacy Museum. There was a lot of inspiration here and if it hadn't been so hot, we would have probably stayed for more than 30 mins

It was honestly difficult not to take picture of every single architectural detail while walking through the French Quarter. The BONUS of it being so hot was that the streets were almost always empty.
